Joe K. Watson, 87, of Ingleside-on-the-Bay, Texas, passed away at home on June 10, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry & Jewell Watson; his sister, Jerry Bush; and his son, Derrick Alan Watson. Joe issurvived by his wife of thirty-two years, Patt Watson; his son Jason Watson(Heidi); his grandson Kyle Watson, and step-daughters Kim Hawes (Ron) and Nancy Lancaster (Lanny).
Joe was born in Mercedes, Texas, but grew up Weslaco, Texas. After graduating from Weslaco High School, Joe began his professional career as a draftsman with Central Power & Light in Corpus Christi. Mr. Watson proudly served his country while serving in the Army during the Vietnam era. After his military service, Joe returned to his career as a draftsman, eventually startinghis own business of forty-five years, Pronto Reprographics.
Throughout his life, Joe was active in his community and local politics. Joeand Patt were active members of the Ingleside Beach Club where Joe initiated Pizza Night. Joe served as the campaign manager for Jason Luby during his successful mayorial race and in recent years, Mr. Watson was elected and served on the Ingleside-on-the-Bay City Council.
Joe enjoyed RV camping with friends, making day trips to Mexico, poker night with the guys, entertaining family and friends with food and drinks, and classic country music. Before he passed, Joe shared with his family that his life had been “one hell of a good time”.
Family and friends will gather at Ingleside Beach Club on Saturday, July 23,2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
