Jesus “Chuy” Iwabuchi, 54, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026. Born on December 16, 1971, in Austin, Texas, Chuy made his home in Rockport, Texas, where he built a life filled with laughter, friendship, and love for family.


To know Chuy was to love him. He was the kind of person who could light up any room the moment he walked in. Known as the life of the party, Chuy never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like family. Whether he was joking around, playing a game of pool, or sitting back enjoying a cold one with family and friends, he brought happiness and laughter wherever he went. His smile, sense of humor, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.


Above all, Chuy loved his family deeply. He is survived by his three sons, Hilario Iwabuchi, Benito Iwabuchi, and Jesus Iwabuchi. He is also survived by his siblings: Emilia Iwabuchi; Benita Mata and spouse Rudy Mata; Minol (Martha Iwabuchi); Jose Antonio Iwabuchi; Esther Iwabuchi; Abraham Iwabuchi; Issac Iwabuchi; and Sarah Jaimes and spouse Julio.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Benito and Hilaria Iwabuchi; his sisters, Carmen Alfaro and Connie Hernandez; and his brother, Manuel Iwabuchi.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Chuy’s life at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. A private viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with public visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Services will continue Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Rockport Cemetery.


Chuy will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought into the lives of others. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Jesús “Chuy” Iwabuchi, de 54 años, falleció en paz el 22 de mayo de 2026. Nacido el 16 de diciembre de 1971 en Austin, Texas, Chuy hizo su hogar en Rockport, Texas, donde construyó una vida llena de risas, amistad y amor por la familia.


Chuy era conocido como el alma de la fiesta y amigo de todos los que se cruzaban en su camino. Su cálida personalidad, su sonrisa contagiosa y su espíritu generoso dejaron una huella duradera en todos los que lo conocieron.
