Jerry Don White, born on January 5, 1942, in Milford, Texas, to Douglas and Martha White, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Mesquite, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, humor, and a love for adventure.
Throughout his life, Jerry was known for his jovial personality. He was a very happy and funny man who could bring laughter to those around him. He spent many fulfilling years working as a bus driver in Rockport and Carrollton, Texas, where he made lasting connections with his passengers and community.
A proud veteran, Jerry served in the U.S. Army, embodying the values of dedication and service that shaped his life. His interests were as eclectic as his personality; he loved tinkering in his workshop with lights and electronics, a pursuit that brought him joy and satisfaction. His passion for vintage cars was reflected in his pride for his cherished 1948 Ford Coup, which he adored. Additionally, Jerry found peace in gardening, particularly in growing beautiful roses. Other hobbies included decorating for Christmas and traveling, which enriched his life with countless memories.
Jerry’s family was a central part of his life, and he is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Nix; his daughter, Catherine Payton, and her husband, Mike Payton; grandchildren, Dustin Freeze, Caden Payton, Michael Payton, and Westin Payton; step-daughter, Sonya Trlick, and her husband, Brian Trlick; step-son, Charles Nix, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Easton Trlick and Aurora McCain; nephew, James Peterson, and his wife, Barbara Peterson; along with many other special friends and family he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Ann White, his second wife, Jan White, and his daughter, Donna White Schott, and his parents, whose memories will forever remain in the hearts of those that loved him.
Jerry's memory will be honored at a visitation on August 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes in Rockport, Texas. A funeral service will take place on August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the same location, followed by his burial at Rockport Cemetery.
As we remember Jerry, we celebrate his spirit, joy, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
