On January 12, 2026, Jeri Cox was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 69. She was born on July 31, 1956.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Smith. She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Cox, with whom she shared a marriage just shy of 50 years. Married on February 14, 1976, their nearly five decades together were a testament to enduring love, partnership, and commitment. She is also survived by her beloved children, son Danny Cox, Jr. (Mandy) and daughter Laci Johnson (John). Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother to Gordon and Gianna Cox and Kennedi and Bennett Johnson, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.
Jeri is also survived by her father, Gary Smith; brother, Dean Smith (Patti); sister, Mona Gail Barnes (Henry); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear quilting friends who shared years of laughter and countless handmade treasures.
A 1974 graduate of Rockport-Fulton High School, Jeri was a cheerleader and honored as “Most Beautiful” of her class. After working at Shell Oil in Houston, she returned to Fulton and began her life with Danny. Together, they built a wonderful life in Fulton, active in the Volunteer Fire Department and always supporting their children’s activities. Jeri dedicated 39 years to serving Aransas County in the tax office, retiring in 2020 as Tax Assessor-Collector. Her commitment to work was matched only by her devotion to family and community.
Jeri loved quilting, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. Above all, her greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived with steadfast faith, reflecting His love through her testimony and joyful spirit. Her life was marked by prayer, Scripture, and the fruits of the Spirit—a blessing to all who knew her as a beloved wife, mother, Nana, daughter, sister, and friend.
