Janine Torres Stacy

December 24, 1944 — March 6, 2026

Rockport

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Janine Torres Stacy, lovingly known as “NeNe,” who passed peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 81. Janine was born on December 24, 1944, in Borger, Texas, to Ray and Waneta Torres. From the very beginning, she brought warmth, laughter, and love into the lives of those around her. On August 25, 1962, Janine married the love of her life, Elmer Joe Stacy. Together they built a beautiful life over 63 years of marriage, filled with deep love, unwavering partnership, and countless cherished memories. Their life together was a testament to devotion, friendship, and family. Janine was a proud graduate of Rockport High School, Class of 1963, and throughout her life she remained deeply rooted in the Rockport community. Her faith was an important foundation in her life. Janine was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Rockport, where she found strength, fellowship, and joy in worship. Her faith guided the way she lived—showing kindness, generosity, and compassion to everyone she met.

She had a vibrant spirit and a creative heart. Janine loved to sew and was an incredibly talented seamstress—so talented that she made her own wedding dress. Over the years she created many beautiful garments, including prom dresses for young women in the community, leaving behind not only dresses but special memories for those who wore them. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of something delicious baking. She loved preparing sweet treats for those she loved and found joy in dancing, celebrating life, and bringing people together. Janine and Elmer Joe shared many wonderful adventures traveling the world with their dear friends, Alton and Betsy Kinsel, creating memories that were treasured forever. Some of Janine’s most treasured moments were spent with her grandchildren. She loved creating special traditions, including the famous “No Parents Allowed” vacations that her granddaughters still talk about with laughter and gratitude. Those trips were filled with fun, love, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Thursdays held a special place in Janine’s heart. They were reserved for “Sister’s Day” at Anna’s, where she gathered with dear friends and family to share stories, laughter, and the comfort of lifelong friendships. Janine was known for her nurturing heart, her kindness, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether you were family, friend, or someone she had just met, Janine had a way of making you feel special. Her legacy is one of faith, generosity, warmth, and a deep love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Waneta Torres; her brothers, Ray “Junior” Torres and Victor Torres; her brother-in-law, Bob Albin; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kemp. Janine leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, Elmer Joe Stacy. She is also survived by her three children: Bej Svatek (Kenny), Jay Stacy (Denise), and Britton Stacy (Kim). Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Stacy Chavez, Samantha Starrett, Synthia Barrios, Amanda Oliver, Ellen Starman, Madison Connelly, Joey Stacy, Lyndsy Stacy, Krystyn Stacy, and Myndy Stacy, along with 13 great grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Kathy Albin, Anna Herring (Joe), Ruth Hoese (Dick), and Judy Albin (Bob), as well as her sisters-in-law Virginia Torres and Judy Torres, and her many nieces and nephews known as “The Cousins Club,” along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

A celebration of Janine’s life will be held on March 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Aransas Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Chavez, Brandon Starrett, Jesse Barrios, Dustin Oliver, Joey Stacy, Bobby Albin, and Febrice Zuniga. In honor of NeNe’s joyful spirit and the vibrant life she lived, the family kindly asks those attending to wear bright, vibrant colors—just as Janine would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of NeNe and her generous spirit.

Janine’s love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to shine brightly through the many lives she touched.
