James Monroe Brittain, U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, passed away December 31, 2018 at the age of 91. James was born on February 5, 1927, in Jacksonville, TX.
He was a loving and devoted husband, uncle, great uncle, brother and friend to many.
He was preceded in death his mother and father, George and Jessie May Brittain; sisters, Peggy Carrick, Billy Pratt and Joe Rogers.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of over 25 years, Shirley; one step-daughter, Linda (Ben) Tucker; step-son, Charles (Tori) Meissner; grand-daughter, Alexis Boenisch; sister-in-law, Delores Foreman; mother-in-law, Bettye Copeland; nieces, Peggy Helm and Charlotte Seals; nephew, Reggie M. Rogers; great-nephews, Michael Rogers, Reggie R. Rogers, Reed Rogers, Russell Rogers and Dylan Seals; great-nieces, Tina Rowsey, Reagan Rogers and Cheryl Taylor.
JM was a WWII veteran. He served in the Pacific and was life member of the VFW Post 2932 in Aransas Pass. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason for many years. He was the 100th Master of Lodge 1018 in Aransas Pass. He was an adopted uncle to the Dye family; Drew, Jim, Bob and Ronnie with their wives and special friend to many.
A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held at 10:00a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 Prairie View Cemetery in Aransas Pass, TX.
