Obituary

Jacqueline May Shaw (Wise) of Rockport, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on February 7, 1940, in Refugio, Texas, and held the distinction of being the first baby born at the newly opened Refugio County Hospital.

A proud fifth-generation Texan, Jackie lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to her community. She attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio before beginning an accomplished career in real estate. For more than 40 years, she was one of Rockport's most respected and successful real estate professionals. In recognition of her decades of dedication to the profession, the National Association of Realtors honored her with the distinguished status of Realtor Emeritus.

Jackie was a lifetime member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and took great pride in preserving the history and heritage of her beloved state. She was also a founding member of the Aransas County Historical Society and was deeply committed to preserving the rich history of the Coastal Bend.

Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was an active and devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Peter's Catholic Church, and she played an instrumental role in the revival and preservation of the historic Stella Maris Chapel in Lamar, Texas. Through her faith, generosity, and dedication, she touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy within her parish communities.

Above all, Jackie cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Martin Shaw; her parents, Harold E. Wise and Bernice L. Wise; and her sister, Veronica A. Wright.

She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Jon Shaw (Christine), James Shaw, and Jeff Shaw (Elizabeth); her grandchildren Ashley, Charles, Ashten, Erin, Reagan, Ryan, Ayden and Ethan and great-grandchildren; her brother, William E. Wise (Lynn); and many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and fellow parishioners who will miss her deeply.

Jackie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, warm heart, strong work ethic, love of Texas history, and steadfast devotion to her family and community. Her kindness, generosity, and grace will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The public visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, from 4-8 p.m. The rosary will begin at 7 pm. Private family services will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Stella Maris Chapel, 114 North Church St., Rockport, TX 78382.
