Irma Camarillo Jones, 81, passed peacefully from this life June 2, 2022, in Rockport, Texas. She was born February 4, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas, however she lived most of her life in San Antonio, Texas.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Vicenta and Nicasio Camarillo, and her beloved husband of 35 years, Dean Brigham Jones, M.D.
After marriage, Irma’s priorities shifted from her professional life as an X-ray technician to homemaker extraordinaire, creating a loving home where memories were made, friends were always welcomed, and laughter never ended. Irma was an accomplished cook, enjoyed working in her garden, and watching birds and animals that visited her yard. Serving as a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy. She also loved music, art, going to the theater, and spending time on the Texas Coast and in Big Bend.
Irma was a pure example of selfless service to others as seen in her community involvement in various organizations: Circle of Hope, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church; Grief Support Counselor; Altar Guild at St. Francis Episcopal Church; member of the Deckhands of the San Antonio Sail and Power Squadron; Executive Committee Member of the International Black and White Ball; and El Patronato de la Cultura Hispano-Americana. Irma was well traveled and cultured. Through her travels, she especially enjoyed marveling at the wonders of nature’s beauty and the similarities of diverse people. She was dedicated to the preservation of Hispanic heritage and language. She will be remembered most for the natural kindness she exuded towards others. Her generosity of spirit lightened the burden and suffering of others and her radiant smile and laughter brought happiness to many. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. She will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate to be touched by her extraordinary life.
Irma is survived by her son, Reuben Todd Jones of Lake Jackson, Texas; her daughter, Kimberly Jones Clark and husband, Benjamin of Rockport, Texas; brother, Ruben Camarillo of Helotes, Texas; sister, Imelda Almaraz and husband, Alejandro of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Jae Cameron Clark; niece, Cynthia Carpio; as well as extended family and numerous close friends.
