Ilda "Irene" McQueen of Livingston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. She was 66 years old. She was born in Falfurrias, Texas, on February 15, 1960, to Oscar Saenz and Celia Garcia Saenz. Irene graduated from Premont High School. On May 10, 2002, she married Jesse L. McQueen.
She will be remembered as a woman whose greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. Whether cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys or gathering with those she held close, she brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of togetherness wherever she went.
Throughout her life, she wore many hats, working as a Tejano music DJ, an assistant manager in various roles, and in collections departments-but no matter the title, she was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with others.
She was truly a people person, someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave a lasting impression.
Her kindness, vibrant spirit, and genuine friendship touched the lives of many. She will be remembered not only for what she did but for how she made others feel valued, welcomed, and loved.
She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Saenz; her mother, Celia Garcia Luna; her brother, Robert Saenz, Sr.; and her great-granddaughter, Athena Rodriquez.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jesse L. McQueen of Livingston, Texas; 2 sons, Eddie (Trisha) Rodriguez of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Diego (Nicole) Rodriguez of Beeville, Texas; daughter, Nicole (Rolando) Mata of Concepcion, Texas; brothers, Oscar Lee Saenz, and Troy (Nora) Pool of Bishop, Texas; sisters, Annabel (Ruben) Trejo of Calallen, Texas, and Pamela Pool of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Gabriel, Edika, Isiah Rodriguez of Aransas Pass, Texas, Skylar, Rolando Jr., Jennavecia, and Haidyn Mata of Concepcion, Texas, Nevaeha Rodriguez of Portland, Texas, Zariyah, and Azaylie Rodriguez of Beeville, Texas; 3 great-grandchildren, Damien, Jaime III, and Selene.
Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 2026 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 2:00 pm all will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes in Aransas Pass, Texas.
