Harold Bowen

August 5, 1957 — October 19, 2023

Harold E. Bowen, 66, beloved Husband, Daddy, and Papa was called to be with the Lord on October 19, 2023. He was born August 5, 1957, in Brownsville, Tx, to John D. Bowen and Joan Ann Willette.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 47 years, Nora Bowen, his four daughters Lisa Reiter (Jeremy), Missy Pena, Christine Hartman (Joseph), and Mary Davies (Bobby), his 13 grandchildren and their spouses, his two sisters Karen Coleman (Clarence) and Peggy Bowen, and his brother Perry “Dutch” Smith (Della).

He is preceded in death by his son Harold Bowen Jr., his mother Joan Ann Smith, his father John D. Bowen, his stepfather Perry “Papa Dutch” Smith, and his brothers Dennis Bowen, Richard Bowen, and John “Bo” Bowen.

Harold was a great man, known to all for his love for the Lord, his heart of gold, and his roar like a lion. He had a contagious smile that would light up his whole face, his laugh that would fill up the whole room, and a sense of humor that was unmatched. He was a loyal and respected friend to his J4 family for over 35 years. He loved them all like family, often reminding them they were a team. He loved his wife and his girls with his whole heart and always had a place for each of them on his lap, even after they were grown. He would tell his wife daily how much he loved her and that she is, “The most beautiful woman he has ever seen.” He was equally proud of his sons (in law), often reminding his daughters of how good he picked them out and was always there for his sons with gentle words of wisdom about handling those feisty girls he raised. You couldn’t have a conversation with him without him pulling out pictures to show you his beautiful family. He was so proud and could often be heard telling his wife, “Look at them momma, aren’t they beautiful!”

His funeral will be held at Ingleside Church of the New Testament, 2508 Church St, Ingleside Tx, 78362, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. A public viewing will begin at 10:15am, with the funeral service starting at 11am.
