Gloria is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Allison Joyal (Zachary Alvarado), Lauren Joyal, Abigail Lopez, Oscar Lopez Jr., Jacob Lopez, and Mia Lopez. Gloria leaves behind many friends and family who loved her dearly.
Gloria was born on July 29, 1946, in Alice, Texas. She married her husband, Jacobo T. Lopez, on December 28, 1962, and they were happily married for 61 years. She spent her life putting her family, especially her granddaughters, and God first. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Gloria was known in the community for her presence in the school and extra-curricular activities of her children and grandchildren. There was nothing that brought her more joy than to see the successes of all her children and grandchildren. Those who knew Gloria felt the love she had for her family and friends when listening to her share about her loved ones. Gloria was an active and devoted member of her church throughout her life, and she found strength in her faith, as well as her beloved church community. It was her strong faith that kept her going through the last few months of hardship that she faced following her declining health. Despite the pain, Gloria remained optimistic and trusted in God’s plan for her. Her optimism and strength were some of her most admirable attributes. Gloria was a proud Aggie Grandma and enjoyed spending time in College Station, Texas to celebrate the academic accomplishments of her granddaughters and son-in-law. Gloria never forgot a card for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, and a golden egg with a “special surprise” on Easter. She enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her family and giving to others who were in need in whatever way she could. Gloria will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her each day that her physical presence is missed.
