Gay Lyn Poole

February 18, 1959 — August 9, 2020

Port Aransas

Gay Lyn Poole was born February 18, 1959 in Watonga, Oklahoma. Her proud parents were Bill and Audry (Elmore) Poole. She grew up in Seiling, Oklahoma and graduated with the Class of 1977.

Free spirited as she was, she loved travel and lived in many beautiful places. Her final destination was the beach town of Port Aransas, Texas. Here, she helped her dear friend, Nero, run his iconic Pink Palace Hotel. The hotel was a block from the beach. Through her experiences with Nero and the Pink Palace, she found a loving, lifelong friend and a joy she had never known.

In her last years, she became what she was always meant to be…an artist. She loved creating beautiful things. Her imagination could see a beauty only she could bring to life. Whether a room, furniture, or works of art made from gifts from the sea, she left her mark on the Coastal Bend.

Gay Lyn will be remembered as a loving daughter, friend, caretaker, wife, mother and ganny. She had an enormous love for her friends and her love for animals. Gay Lyn fulfilled a life-long dream of living on the coast. She and her fur babies, Pete and Maggie ventured to Port Aransas. She spread love and light to anyone she could share her love of Jesus and faith in Father God.

Her precious friends Nero and Jackie will be sending her ashes into the sea off the Coastal Bend…setting her free of pain, into God’s waiting arms. Gay Lyn is survived by a special family, and incredibly special friends to whom her gratitude can’t be measured.

“If you sail to the far end of the seas, Even there, God’s hand will guide you.” Psalm 139 9:10
