Florence Parks

March 8, 1934 — January 1, 2023

Plano

Florence Mae Spears Parks, 88, was welcomed by her Heavenly Father on January 1, 2023. She was born March 8, 1934 to William and Edna Spears in Ingleside, Texas. The family lived there, on a farm, in her younger years and then moved to Aransas Pass, where she lived most of her life.

Florence graduated from Aransas Pass High School where she served as the drum major for the Aransas Pass High School Marching Band. She excelled in academics and was well liked by her peers. She met the love of her life, Hal M. Parks, while they were both going to school there. After graduating, they both continued their education and when Hal graduated college from Texas A & M University, they were married on March 12, 1955, for a wonderful 57 years.

Hal’s military service continued in the U.S. Army. So together they moved and lived on an Army base in Fort Knox, Kentucky where their first child Kim, was born. Their next move was to an Army base in Frankfurt, Germany where their 2nd child, Trey (Hal M. Jr.) was born. After finishing abroad, they moved back to Aransas Pass where they were blessed with their 3rd child, Todd, and 4th child, Kelly, both born in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Florence dedicated her life to her family and they were her first love and concern. She was a tremendous wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and could make the most delicious meals and best-ever cream pies. She could make up great poems on a whim and had the funniest sayings and songs that she always sang and taught her grandchildren. She loved her brothers and sisters and always remained close to them. She loved her church, First United Methodist Church/Aransas Pass, and made sure her children were all there on Sunday mornings for Sunday School and church…sitting on their famous back rows. She was an avid walker and always enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren playing sports. She was our cheerleader…we loved her so much and will miss her dearly.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Minter Parks. She is survived by her four children: Kimberly Ann Parks Peters (James) of Carrollton, Texas, Hal Minter Parks, Jr. (Ginger) of Decatur, Alabama, Todd Spears Parks (Alisa) of Corsicana, Texas and Kelly Lea Parks Weeks (Weldon) of Arlington, Texas. Ten Grandchildren: Rob Peters (Shannon) of Dallas, Texas, Annie Sharp (Morgan) of Lewisville, Texas, Christopher Parks (Susan) of Huntsville, Alabama, Karen Rudolph (Glenn) of Madison, Alabama, Kyle Parks (Brittany) of Gurley, Alabama, Caroline Morlan (Josh) of Round Rock, Texas, Ross Parks (Amanda) of Spring, Texas, Kaley Head (Austin) of Arlington, Texas, Konley Lavis (Joe) of Fort Worth, Kimberly Haugh (Tim) of Fort Worth, Texas.
