Ezra B. Meyer, Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “Bugs” or simply “Jr.,” went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 17, 2026.

Born on October 13, 1956, to Anna Dison and Ezra B. Meyer, Sr.; Jr. lived a life marked by service, hard work, laughter, and an unwavering love for family. He never met a stranger, had an unforgettable sense of humor, and if you needed help, he was the kind of man who would truly give you the shirt off his back.

Jr. proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1978, traveling throughout the world, including the Philippines. During his military service, he became the proud father of two children, Joshua Meyer and Angela Perez (David). Following his service, he returned home to Texas, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and honest work.

In 1995, Jr. began a relationship with Brenda, someone he had known since she was thirteen years old. Along with Brenda, came her three children—Chris Coleman (Tiffany), Schon Tatro, and Christina Tatro—whom Jr. loved as his own. He was never simply a stepfather; he was the dad who stepped up. Even after he and Brenda went their separate ways, they remained lifelong friends, and he continued to be a constant source of love and support for their family.

Throughout his life, Jr. was known as a dependable, hardworking man. He worked for Coastal Enterprise before spending many years with the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, where he remained employed until 2026. He took pride in providing for his family and earned the respect of everyone who worked alongside him.

More than anything, Jr. will be remembered for the way he loved people. He found joy in making others laugh, offering a helping hand without hesitation, and putting family first. His generosity, kindness, and infectious sense of humor left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Meyer and Angela Perez (David), Christina Tatro, Schon Tatro and Dustin Strelo (Michelle); his brothers, William Meyer and Bobby Meyer (Marilyn); his sisters, Millie Gomez (Tomas) and Cheryl Daubs; his grandchildren, Ashlee, AJ, Bentley, Erica, Hayden, and Tyler; his nieces, Krista, Lisa, Carrie, Gretchen, and Victoria; his great-nephew, Jace; and many beloved extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Dison and Ezra B. Meyer, Sr., and his beloved stepson, Chris Coleman.

Although our hearts are heavy with his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the countless acts of kindness that defined the man he was. He leaves behind not only memories but an example of what it means to live with generosity, loyalty, and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Heroes on the Water – Rockport Chapter and/or Call Sign Victor of Yorktown, Texas, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting military veterans and first responders—causes that were close to Jr.’s heart.
