Dorothy Sprinkle

Dorothy Anne Sprinkle was born May 14, 1929, in Naples, Texas, and passed away July 6, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dorothy, known informally as Dot, grew up in Mineral Wells, Texas, with her four other siblings where she graduated from High School and went on to East Texas State, Commerce, Texas, to get her bachelor's degree in Education/Journalism. She met her future husband, Hobson Doyle Sprinkle, while in college and in a brief time they eloped to get married. She was a teacher in Journalism, English, and Business at Irving High School while getting her master's degree at SMU in Literature. She then applied her skills in Journalism at the Region X Education Service Center until she retired.

Dorothy spent her life caring for people. She cared for someone most of her adult life. She and Doyle gladly held multiple memorable Long family reunions at their home on the lake in Tool, Texas, and later in Gun Barrell City, Texas. She was full of energy and loved reading, photography, playing tennis, and swimming in the lake, among other interests and crafts.

She is survived by her brothers, Leon Long, and Freddie Long, and by her sons, Randal A. Sprinkle of Rockport, Texas, and Andy L. Sprinkle of Corpus Christi, Texas.

In addition, she is survived by twelve grandchildren: Lorena Richter (Jonathan); Renee Hudlow (David); Audrea Stephenson (Jack); Andrew Sprinkle (McKenna); Jamie Nickle (Zac); Taylor Sprinkle; Jesse Sprinkle; Daniel Sprinkle; Jonathan Sprinkle; David Sprinkle; Arielle Sprinkle; and Jewel Sprinkle. Great grandchildren are Nadine Hudlow, Luke Richter and Noelle Richter, and three on the way.

Dorothy is loved and will be missed. She will be buried at Rockport Cemetery next to her husband of 67 years.
