Dorothy Jean "Polly" Isaacks Bracht

Polly Bracht passed away on March 18, 2026. A lifelong Texan, She was born September 14, 1929 in Liberty Hill to Virgil Isaacks and Lola Giddens Isaack. She graduated from Gregory High School and then from Texas A&I in Kingsville with a degree in home economics.

Polly moved to Rockport in 1950 and taught home economics at the high school. Her job duties besides teaching, included running the school cafeteria and laundering the uniforms of the high school sports teams. She lived in Rockport the rest of her life.

Polly married James Campbell Bracht, a fourth generation Rockport resident on June 29, 1952 and they had four children. She volunteered as room mother during her children's early years and later served two terms on the Rockport-Fulton Independent School District Board. Polly loved tennis, bridge, and socializing. She never met a stranger and always saw the glass as half-full.

She was an expert seamstress and took up quilting later in life, becoming one of the original members of Piecemakers By The Bay Quilt Guild. She loved her time with that group making many charity quilts along the way and considered its members her special friends.

Polly was preceded in death by her husband, James, her son, Alan Cambell Bracht, and grandson, Wes Alan Bracht, and her brother, Jimmy Isaacks.

She is survived by her daughters, Susie Bracht Black (Clayton), and daughter, Karen Bracht Ortosky (Mark), her son, Bryan Bracht (Cheryl), and her grandchildren, Angela Bracht, Sean Specht, Alexis Bracht, and Hunter Bracht, and numerous extended family members and beloved friends near and far.

Services will be private.
