Don Lester Kelstrom, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend, passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on February 14, 1940, in Flasher, North Dakota, to the late Lester and Florence Kelstrom.
Don grew up in Flasher, where he attended Flasher High School before embarking on his life's adventures. In 1968, he married the love of his life, Leta, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Don worked as a logger in Idaho, until 1969 when the family moved to Colorado. He worked for Colorado Highway department until retirement in 1996. Moved to Texas for the fishing in 1999.
With a passion for fishing, playing slot machines, and long walks, Don was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He often spent his days casting a line into the calm waters, eagerly awaiting his next catch or trying his luck at the local casino. Don's gentle and caring spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sisters, Darlyne Allen and Ione Phelps. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Leta Kelstrom; his daughter, Sheryl Schibler (James); two sons, Ralph Barkell and Rodney Barkell (Trisa); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews, David Allen and Kevin Allen.
Don Lester Kelstrom will forever be remembered for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. The memories and love he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and strength to all who were fortunate to have known him.
