David Waldan Sparks was born on July 25, 1974 in Fort Belvoir, VA. He passed away early Saturday, July 25, 2026 of natural causes at his home in Rockport, TX.

David is survived by his Sister, Sidra Myers, an Aunt, Mary Hill, nieces, Avalon Myers and Ashley Sparks, nephews, Shawn Sparks, Darien Myers, Shane Sparks and a sister in law Erica Staples.

His parents Douglas Sparks and Sheila Tiner and older brother Daniel Sparks have passed away and they are all now joined together in peace.

David grew up in Abilene, TX and moved to the coastal bend area where he graduated high school.

David discovered his lifelong love for food at an early age. He worked for over 35 years as an Executive Chef at several locations in Rockport and Port Aransas. David poured creativity, grit and immense heart into every dish. He was known for his booming laugh, patient teaching style, and open-hearted love and compassion for everyone he met. If you knew him you probably felt like family.

He will be greatly missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.
