In Loving Memory of David Lee Mays Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of David Lee Mays Sr, who left us peacefully on October 14, 2025 at the age of 63.
David lived a life built on love, hard work, and service to others. For 37 years, he shared a beautiful marriage with his wife, Becky Mays, his best friend and greatest supporter. Together they raised two children, David Mays Jr and spouse Mary Mays, and Megan Bacon and spouse
Aaron Bacon, who will forever be grateful for his guidance, wisdom, and the example he set through his kindness and strength.
He was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren - David Mays Jr III, Dawson Mays, Peyten Bacon, Waylon Bacon, and Weston Bacon, whose laughter and accomplishments brought him endless joy — his face lit up every time they were around.
He was a devoted son to his mother, Dorthy Mays, and a brother to Michael Mays. His family meant everything to him, and he would drop anything to help them—or anyone else in need.
David had a gift for fixing things, not just as a talented mechanic, but in the way he could mend a bad day with a witty remark or a helping hand. As a volunteer firefighter, he dedicated countless hours to keeping his community safe, never expecting anything in return. That’s just who he was — the first to show up, the last to leave, and always willing to do whatever was needed.
He will be remembered for his huge heart, his steady presence, and the way he made everyone feel like family. His legacy of generosity and compassion will live on through all who were lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on October 25th at 11AM at Fulton Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department in his memory.
We will miss him deeply, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
