Dara Jane “Janie” Davila, beloved wife, mother, “Momo,” sister, and friend; entered eternal rest on May 11, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old.
Janie was born June 7, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late Leroy Truitt Sr. and Martha Shelton Truitt. Janie was the heart and soul of her family — the kind of woman whose love could be felt in every room she walked into. She was strong, selfless, loving, and always made sure the people she cared for were taken care of before herself. Whether she was offering advice, cheering from the stands, helping with family gatherings, or simply sitting and visiting with the people she cared about the most, Janie made everyone feel important and deeply loved.
More than anything, Janie was proud of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and the life she built alongside her husband were her greatest joys. She shared forty-four beautiful years of marriage with her best friend and devoted husband, Reuben Davila Sr., creating a home filled with love, laughter, strength, and unwavering support.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Truitt Sr.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reuben Davila Sr.; her sons, Richard Cole, Reuben Davila Jr. (Vivian), Charles Davila (Paulina), and Leroy Davila (Darian); her mother, Martha Shelton Truitt; and her siblings, Leroy Truitt Jr. (Leah), Debbie Springs (Allan), Christi Vasquez (Rene), and Charles Truitt.
She also leaves behind the grandchildren she adored so deeply: Charles Jr., Annalise, Nicolas, Adrianna, Abigayle, Jayden, Dara, Emalee, Mason, Reuben III “Rowdy,” Landen, Lylah, Brynleigh, and Wesley; and her great-grandson, Ezra; along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Her love, guidance, strength, and the memories she created with each of them will forever live on in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass from 4-8pm, with a Rosary at 7pm. Janie's funeral service will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 10am at Coastal Bend Family Worship Center. Graveside will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
