OBITUARARY FOR CLARENCE OWEN DREYER May 9, 1935 – August 21, 2025

“The time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, and I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:6 & 7. Clarence passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father on August 21, 2025. His love, his smile, his humor and his life will be nestled in our hearts until we are each reunited with him again in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Clarence was born to Francis Edna and Guss Ludwig on May 9, 1935 in Kingsville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gracie Lee, brothers Alton Ray and Vincent Franklin, and his granddaughter Shauna Lynn Boudreaux and great grandson Gauge Calahan.

Surviving him are his wife Jo Dreyer; children, Wesley Dreyer, Mark Dreyer (Bridget), Lynda Cline (Jason); grandchildren David Dreyer (Bonnie), Dereck Dreyer (Ashley), Krista Dreyer, Michael Merrifield, Tiffany Calahan (Joe), Justin Cline, Rachel Cline; great grandchildren, Savannah, Max and Leo Dreyer, Bryson and Presley Hancock, McKenna Calahan; brother Doyle Dreyer (Barbara).

He grew up in Kingsville and made many lifelong friends. Upon his father's retirement, moved to Clark, Texas in 1952 and graduated from Hardin High School in 1954. After graduation, was offered three football/track scholarships (University of Texas, Texas A&M University and University of Houston). He opted to join the Air Force and after a tour of duty in 1958, returned to Kingsville to attend Texas A&l University and married Jo Dreyer that same year. They were married (67) years. Clarence received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in May 1963 and their son, Wesley, was born that same month. They had 2 more children: Mark and Lynda. Between the 3 children, they have 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Clarence worked at Celanese Chemical Plant in Bishop, Texas for 38 years upon his retirement. While raising his family, attended Christ United Methodist Church and First Assembly of God churches, working as Christian Education Superintendent, Adult and Children's Sunday School Teacher, and served for many years as deacon and elder. After retirement in 1992, he and his wife, Jo travelled full-time in an RV for five years, settling down in Canyon Lake for 11 years. Moved to Ingleside in June of 2007. While there, Clarence volunteered at the Tri-County Christian Center in Aransas Pass. They moved to Brookdale Senior Retirement Community in Portland, Texas and lived there for several years. Moved into a townhouse in Portland where he resided for five years, moved to The Viera Senior Living in Corpus Christi, and lived until his passing.

He shared the love of Christ with all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also, many friends, as his most passionate desire was to know that all of them would come to a living knowledge of Christ and join him in Heaven.

On his behalf, we share John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

Please let this verse speak to your heart and receive salvation in order that you too can be assured of your Heavenly home.
