Celia Lamas

February 14, 1935 — August 10, 2023

Ingleside

Celia Tello Lamas was born February 14th, 1935, and passed away August 10th, 2023. She was 88 years old. She was born in Rayon, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Fernando Tello and Maria Aguilar. She had a second birthday because she had such a grand personality that she wanted to do this twice again on November 14th, 1935. She came to the states and worked at a restaurant in the valley where she met Carlos Lamas, a young handsome bachelor and said his hazel eyes mesmerized her. As for the whole story, I'm not sure, but he says he invited her to the movies, and she never got out of the car. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and part of the Aransas Pass Spanish congregation since 1968. She had 12 children, did I mention they were all beautiful. During 2020 and 2021, 3 of her sons with terminal illnesses passed away. She survived their passing and being the strong person that she was, she continued her battle against Parkinson's until her passing. She was known to many as Mamita, a self-made businesswoman with only 3 years of schooling. She had a cafe known as Mingo’s Drive-In, and then later because of her love for the food industry, she worked with her boys at the beloved Twin Pizza for many years. She made many lifelong friends during that part of her life. Her Parkison’s never stopped her from singing and for those of you who knew her, she was always singing! She especially loved singing with Mariachis, you didn't have to ask her to sing because she was going to do it no matter what.

She is preceded in death by her brother Abel Tello and her three sons, Luis (Belinda), Carlos(Pat) and Abel(Esther). She is survived by her loving husband, Carlos Sandoval Lamas, her children, Janie Marroquin(Armando), Fina Lamas, Amelia Segovia(Domingo), Fred Lamas, David Lamas(Luwanah), Rey Lamas(Maria), Chris Lamas(Cindi), Celia Christina Herrera(Art), Ruben Lamas and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday August 13th, 2023, from 2 PM to 8 PM and service will be August 14th, 2023, at 11 AM at Charlie Marshall Funeral home in Aransas Pass.
