Obituary

Catherine Mae Gilbert was truly one of a kind. She had a big personality, a quick wit, and absolutely no filter. You never had to wonder what Catherine was thinking - she would happily tell you. She was feisty, outspoken, sarcastic, and incredibly funny, often making those around her. But those who knew Catherine well also knew her softer side. She would welcome those she cared about with open arms and a hug. She loved a good sweet treat. In her final years, some of her favorite things were going for a ride to Dairy Queen for a hot fudge sundae or simply spending time at home with Molly and good company. Catherine shared many years and adventures with her husband, Willet Gilbert Jr. Together they traveled, built a life filled with memories, and shared a love that remained an important part of Catherine's life. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son.

No remembrance of Catherine would be complete without mentioning Molly, her beloved dog. Molly wasn't simply Catherine's dog - she was family, her baby, her companion, and her little protector. Anyone who knew Catherine knew just how much Molly meant to her and how special their bond was. She leaves behind her two daughters, including Kathryn Lane, along with those whose lives she touched and who will carry memories of her unmistakable personality with them. In her final years, Catherine was surrounded by people who cared deeply for her and were able to honor something especially important - allowing her to remain comfortably in her own home. Catherine spent her final days there, with her beloved Molly faithfully by her side until the very end.

Catherine will be remembered for exactly who she was - feisty, funny, outspoken, sweet in her own way, and truly unforgettable. She was one of a kind, and those who had the chance to really know her will never forget her.
