Betty Jane Kappelman Irey left this world on September 24, 2026. Betty was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas on October 19, 1930 to Otto and Ethel Kappelman.
She is preceded in death by four of her five siblings. Charles and James Kappelman, Arlene Milner, and Joann Warren.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Carol Hudgens, of Wylie, Texas. Betty has two sons, Gerald Irey (deceased) and Clayton Irey of Rockport, Texas. Betty also adopted Carol Hudgens at an early age and raised her with the same loving care as her natural children. Betty had grandchildren, Justin Irey(deceased), Brooke and Weston Irey, of Gruene and Converse Texas respectively.
Betty was Married to Dan Irey, who also precedes her in death. Betty was a graduate of South San Antonio High School where she excelled as a young artist. She developed her art skills to a professional level and employed these skills as she and Dan traveled the United States in their Motorhome; drawing, painting and embracing the beauty of these United States. She loved her pets. She had several dogs, last of which a scraggly mutt named Sweetie Pie. She was a devoted Jehovah Witness, faithful member of the Rockport Congregation.
There will be a life celebration Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 2pm at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Aransas Pass.
