Margetta Coulston

August 29, 1945 — February 12, 2024

Mrs. Betty Margetta Fetters, 78, of Rockport, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2024, at her home in Rockport, Texas.

Margetta was born in the Waurika Hospital in Waurika, Oklahoma on August 29, 1945, to Herman and Margie Fetters of Hastings, Oklahoma. Her parents raised her on their farm in Cotton County, Oklahoma until 1957, when they moved to Temple, Oklahoma. After graduating Valedictorian from Temple High School in 1963, Margetta attended the University of Oklahoma, and later obtained her Accounting degree from the University of Maryland in 1966. She received her master’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management in 1996 from Webster University.

Margetta married the love of her life, Ron Coulston, on June 20, 1964. They had one son, Greg, whom they adopted in October 1968.  Ron’s assignments with the civil service afforded their family the opportunity to twice live in Germany. Upon completion of their final assignment in Germany, Ron and Margetta made their way back to San Antonio, Texas where they both worked for civil service until retirement. They made their home in Rockport, Texas in 2001.

After retiring in 2001, Margetta spent her time attending church, playing bridge, mahjong, gardening, reading, and sitting on the back porch watching the hummingbirds and deer. She enjoyed taking trips with Ron to different parts of the world, taking in the sights and enjoying time with her husband. She was very social and enjoyed the winter Texan friends that passed through Rockport each year, as well as her church community, especially her Sunday School class at The First Baptist Church. In 2009, Margetta took in her grandson Cody, whom she enjoyed raising through high school.

Margetta was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Margie Fetters, her older brother, James Lewis Fetters, and her two still-born children.
