Betsye Ross Eshelman, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and constant military spouse, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 87.

Betsye was born on March 28, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent her formative years in Kyle, Texas, where she graduated from Kyle High School. Her life took a beautiful turn following a blind date that led to her marriage to Jack Eshelman. The couple exchanged vows on May 24, 1956, at the Kyle Church.

As the dedicated wife of a Colonel, Betsye embraced a life of travel and sacrifice. She made homes in various locations, including Germany and Galesburg, Illinois, moving whenever duty called. It is a sacrifice often overlooked—the strength and resilience required to raise two sons while managing the demands of military life. Betsye and Jack eventually retired to Austin, Texas, before making their final move to Rockport, Texas, to be near their son, Mark. They often said this move was the best decision they ever made.

Outside of her family and military life, Betsye cultivated strong passions. She loved to bowl, was a master gardener and had a deep enthusiasm for travel. For over twenty years, she and Jack faithfully visited the Cayman Islands every year, where they rejoined a treasured group of friends who became very dear to her heart.

Betsye is survived by her two loving sons:  Mike Eshelman of The Woodlands, Texas, and  Mark Eshelman and his wife, Denise, of Rockport, Texas.

She is also survived by her devoted sister, Jean Miller, and Jean's husband, Kenneth, of Kyle, Texas. Also, brother in Law, Alan Miller.

Betsye's legacy is one of unwavering devotion to family, enduring strength in the face of change, and a life well-traveled and well-loved.
