Rockport

Barbara Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in Rockport, Texas. She was born on January 16, 1933, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Barbara lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering passion for teaching. In 1951, Barbara married the love of her life, Fred J. Johnson. They shared many beautiful years together filled with laughter and love. Sadly, she was preceded in death by Fred, but their love story continues to inspire all who knew them.

Barbara graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in teaching, a profession she cherished deeply. Her dedication to her students and the joy in shaping young minds defined her career and touched countless lives. Outside the classroom, Barbara had an artistic spirit; she loved reading, drawing, and surrounding herself with family and friends. She was the heart of her family, always ready to share a smile, a story, or a comforting embrace.

Barbara is survived by her three loving children: Elizabeth Ellen Mapes (Scott), Leif D. Johnson (Keitha), and Melissa R. Armstrong, along with her cherished brother, Logan Jeffery Bertolette. She also leaves behind five wonderful grandchildren: Lizzie Tyler (Archie), Gary Tom Murphy (Bonnie), Brittni R. McMim, Logan Jett McMim, and William M. Armstrong, each of whom carries a piece of her heart. We invite those who knew Barbara to join us in remembering her vibrant spirit and the love she shared. Let us come together to lift our hearts and share stories that reflect the warmth and joy Barbara brought to our lives
