With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Amanda Susana Martinez, who left us on March 30, 2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of her family. Amanda was born in Mathis, Texas, and spent her life rooted in Rockport. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and her family was truly her whole world. She gave her love freely, always showing up for the people she cared about in whatever way she could. She was strong, independent, and never afraid to speak her mind. Amanda had a straightforward, sometimes blunt way about her—but that was part of what made her *her*. She was real, honest, and always kept it true. Beneath that tough exterior was a big heart, full of love for her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She found joy in the simple things—playing the slots, watching her favorite movies and shows, and most of all, spending time with the people she loved. Even in the face of health struggles and losing her mobility, she continued to hold on to those moments and cherish them.
Amanda is survived by her children, Santiago, Jimmy Martinez (Linda); and Rosie Wilson (Dan); her grandchildren, Junior, Samantha, Juanito, Beau, and Jonathan; her daughter-in-law, Victoria Martinez; her brothers, Jesse, Lawrence, and Floyd Valdez (Pam); her sisters, Delia and Elma Valdez; along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Juan “Sammy” Martinez; her son, Timothy Martinez; her parents, Santiago and Maria Valdez; her brothers, Santiago, Benigno, Jose, Guadalupe, and Francisco Valdez; her sisters, Juanita Valdez and Maria Garcia Valdez; and her brothers-in-law, Oscar Garcia and Ramiro Martinez and loved ones who went before her.
Amanda was the kind of person you don’t forget. She was tough, loving, and resilient—and she will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 6, 2026, at 10:00 am the Rockport Cemetery 2040 Tule Park Dr. Rockport, Tx 78382.
