Alvin Charles Messmer Jr., 86, of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 17, 2026. He was born on June 12, 1940, in Harlingen, Texas, to Alvin Charles Messmer, Sr. and Gertrude Elizabeth Wentz.
Alvin retired from IGA in Port Aransas as a Meat Cutter; he then worked at Stripes convenience stores in Port Aransas, Ingleside, and Rockport for several years. Alvin was an avid fisherman and loved spending time fishing in the Gulf and on our Bays.
Alvin is survived by his sister, Kathryn Elizabeth Messmer DeMeulle of Aransas Pass; nephew, Dean Alan James of Aransas Pass; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; cousins, Jane Todd(Alan) and Doris Adel. Alvin was never married.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Charles Messmer Sr. and Gertrude Elizabeth Wentz; sister, Shirley Ann Messmer James; brother-in-law, Albert DeMeulle; along with his nephews, Richard Neal James and Daryl Curtis James.
Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Alvin's cremains will be spread in the Gulf of America to be re-united with his father and mother, who were also spread there.
