It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Lee Arter, who left us peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on November 3, 1951, in Fresno, California, to Elbert and Barbara Arter, Alan lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work. Alan was a devoted family man who married his high school sweetheart, Sheila, on January 25, 1969. Their love story is one for the ages—an inspiring journey that spanned over five decades, grounded in partnership, friendship, and deep affection. Alan was a true jack of all trades; he relished in taking on various jobs and was known for his incredible work ethic.
He is preceded in death by his father, son Alan, brother Edwin, and grandson Derek. The void left by his absence is deeply felt, yet his spirit will continue to shine through the lives of those he cherished. Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila, and leaves behind his children: Angelia and Robin McLeroy, Anita Perry, Rodney Arter, and Eric Riccio. He will be missed tremendously by his only sister, Mitzy Arter, along with his 9 wonderful grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who filled his life with joy and laughter. Rest easy, Alan. You will forever be in our hearts.
