Mildred Wilson Spears, age 95, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was born on March 2, 1923 to Louis R. Wilson and Mattie L. Wilson in Gonzales, Texas. Mildred attended schools in Refugio and Aransas Pass, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Aransas Pass. Unique for a woman of her generation, Mildred worked full time in excess of thirty-five years for the State of Texas at the ferry operations in Port Aransas, Texas. She was also a certified representative of Luzier Cosmetics for over fifty years. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Aransas Pass, a Life Member of the Wesleyan Service Guild and a Charter Member of the Lioness Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Norman Spears; her father, L.R. Wilson; her mother, Mattie Hoover Wilson; her step-mother, Elsie Wilson and by her brother, Odell Wilson.

She is survived by her three children, Norman Spears III (Janice) of Rockport, Texas, Winfred Spears (Linda) of Tomball, Texas and Walter Spears (Lisa) of Houston, Texas. She has eight grandchildren, Norman Spears IV (Christina), Sam Spears (Alissa), Justin Spears, Carrie Wall (Kenny), Cindy Gardin (Travis), Chad Spears, Kelsie Spears and Tyler Spears. She also has great-grandchildren, Emily Spears, Abigail Spears, Matthew Wall, Jacob Wall, Jacqueline Gardin, Whitney Gardin and Lochlan Spears. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Rosemary Upton, Loy Kellar, Evelyn Wilson and Florence Parks; brothers-in-law, Floyd R, “Jiggs” Spears and Robert R. “Joe” Spears (Genevieve); numerous extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with family present from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass.

Funeral Service in memory of Mildred will be held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Interment will follow in the family plot in Prairie View Cemetery.
